When I cook, I tend to look at a bunch of recipes (or experiment but mostly look at a bunch of recipes) and add things that I like and what I have in my pantry.
I felt like having turkey burgers so for dinner I made my husband and I some turkey burgers. I wanted something spicy so I looked up a couple recipes from AllRecipes & FoodNetwork and tweaked them to what I already had. This is what I ended up using:
1 Pounds of ground turkey
1/4 cup of jalapeños
1/2 cup of red onion
3 cloves of garlic cuz they were tiny
the tiniest pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of mild chili powder
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon of paprika
1/5 a cup of Red’s hot sauce
1 teaspoon of ginger
1/2 cup of cilantro
The easy thing about cooking burgers is that all you have to do is mix everything together… and make sure everything is mixed. You’ll understand why when you get to the end of the blog.
I let them sit for a bit with some saran wrap over it in the fridge, I don’t know if it even helps the spices settle in the meat but yolo I did it because I wasn’t cooking until later and I just didn’t wanna have to do it later.
When it was time to cook dinner I divided the meat into 4 thinking that it’d be enough for the both of us. We put in on our George Foreman grill for about 7 when it calls for like 5-6 minutes because to our surprise they almost didn’t FIT in that big ol’ thing. When we ate them we were full by the end of it… Ali’s mouth was burning because he ended up getting all of the jalapeños in one burger which made me laugh and sad at the same time because I thought my burgers were so mild.. OH and because his mouth was burning. LOL SORRY. Maybe I’ll do a better job of mixing everything around… or I’ll just put jalapeños in mine.
